Topic "RF MOI Preparation for the 65th Anniversary of the Great Victory" addressed in broadcast "Conversation with the Minister" at radio station "Militia wave"

MW. The beginning of May is traditionally the most anticipated time for all inhabitants of Russia. This year the beginning of May is special: on May 9 we are celebrating the 65^th Anniversary of the Great Victory. And accordingly the scale of celebratory events will be rather impressive.

What measures will be taken to prevent anything and anybody from spoiling this holiday? What kind of assistance can citizens render in this respect? We are discussing these issues with our visitor, Minister of Interior of Russian Federation Rashid Nurgaliev.

- Rashid Gumarovich, 4 days remain before we will celebrate probably the most important date of this year, the 65^th Anniversary of the Great Victory. Certainly, law enforcement bodies have a wide safeguarding experience during similar events. However, this year the holiday promises to be quite special. Will this have an impact on the activity of the Russian militia?

Minister. The Victory Day has always been a special holiday for our country. It is on this day that the society expresses its gratitude and respect to our veterans. This year is an Anniversary year. Celebratory events will take place virtually in every settlement of Russia. I would not exaggerate saying that our country will be thrust into the whole world's spotlight. Therefore, the law enforcement bodies undertake the additional burden of responsibility which is also connected with the prestige of the Russian Federation in the opinion of the world community.

MW. What specific measures will be taken by the Russian militia for safety maintenance?

Minister. We have been preparing for this holiday for months. In terms of safety maintenance the Ministry of Interior of Russia closely cooperates with other law enforcement bodies. We have operative headquarters established in all regions.

Since April 28, all units of law enforcement bodies and internal troops of the Ministry of Interior of Russia have undertaken the advanced mode of duty performance. Militia employees are on duty round the clock, the density of patrols of external services of militia is increased, a range of additional operative preventive measures are being taken.

Before the beginning of solemn events all objects will checked using office dogs and special technical means.

In total, we are planning to involve more than 310,000 employees of law enforcement bodies and about 30,000 military men of internal troops for maintenance of safety on May, 9.

MW. Rashid Gumarovich, certainly Moscow will witness the main celebratory events on May 9. The listeners would most likely like hear about safeguarding measures specifically in the Russian capital...

Minister. Moscow has always been a special city for us not only because it is capital of our country but also because it is always more difficult to provide safety, the law and order properly in a megalopolis.

Besides, a considerable number of veterans and visitors both from regions of Russia and from abroad are expected on May, 9 including governmental delegations of foreign countries.

Therefore, safeguarding issues during the preparation and carrying out of celebratory events in Moscow are held under special control.

In total, over 22,000 employees of internal affairs departments and military men of internal troops of the Ministry of Interior of Russia will be involved in the maintenance of the public order and safety in Moscow.

Taking into consideration the scheduled celebrations we will have to limit traffic on this day. For convenience of motor vehicle drivers we published diagrams depicting blocked streets in Moscow during the celebratory events at official websites of the Ministry of Interior of Russia and the State Traffic Patrol Department. Therefore, each driver can individually and conveniently choose detour ways.

MW. Rashid Gumarovich, it is no secret that employees of law enforcement bodies also made a considerable contribution to the victory of the Soviet armies in the Great Patriotic War. What celebratory events are planned thereupon by the Ministry?

Minister. In days of war employees of law enforcement bodies faced tough challenges. On the one hand, they conducted fierce up-front battles with weapons in hands. On the other hand, they provided the law and order in the rear.

We are sincerely grateful to them and to all veterans for our chance to develop our country and to bring up children under a peaceful sky today. The Ministry of Interior of Russia has always shown great respect and regard towards the feat they had performed 65 years ago.

Today, in three and a half hours a state reception will take place at the Central museum of the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Hill for our veterans as part of celebrating the Anniversary of the Great Victory,.

Also, a field kitchen will be established on Poklonnatya Hill today as part of the celebration. Demonstration performances of employees of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate on motorbikes are expected.

MW. Rashid Gumarovich, it is known that safety means mutual responsibility of both militia employees and citizens. Could you give any recommendations to our listeners?

Minister. The principal task not only of law enforcement bodies, but also of the whole society is to let the Anniversary Day of the Victory be celebrated at the highest level. Therefore I would like to ask citizens to be as attentive as possible. One should not be ashamed of informing militia employees about possible infringements of the public order. Also, I would certainly ask all our citizens to show more respect for the protagonists of the holiday, our dear veterans on May, 9.

I sincerely hope that our joint efforts will make it possible to celebrate the 65^th Anniversary of the Great Victory at the highest level.
