Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate on the Jewish autonomous region held press conference

At a meeting with journalists the head of the regional militia major general of militia Vasily Olejnik in detail told, how the Program of modernisation of law enforcement bodies in the Russian Federation and in the Jewish autonomy, in particular will be realised.

- On the board of the Ministry of Interior of Russia following the results of work of law enforcement bodies in 2009 the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev placed the basic emphasis on strategy of development of the Ministry of Interior, - emphasized Vasily Olejnik. - According to the heads of the state, the first and major steps of reform is an optimisation of structure and personnel structure of department. Till January, 1st, 2012 the number of employees of the Ministry of Interior should be reduced to 20%. Number of workers of units of central office will be reduced twice.

20% for our region are more than 350 employees. We understand that reduction process should not lower quality of militia activity. The present professionals of the business should remain.

Today the Internal Affairs Directorate studies and analyzes available offers, initiatives and measures on "minimisation of losses". It is not necessary to hasten with conclusions, especially, to use the unchecked information and hearings. In my opinion, it is important not to lose positive tendencies in work on crime rate decrease, to keep a professional kernel of militia and trust of people. Our main function remains former - in full volume to carry out tasks in view on maintenance of safety, to protect the rights and freedom of citizens ".

The important changes occur in system of personnel maintenance. The ministry enters more strict order of selection of candidates on service into law enforcement bodies with the account of their morally-ethical, psychological qualities, vocational level.

The wide complex of anticorruption measures is provided. On the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation the project of the new Federal law "About militia" now is developed.

Among priority problems which stand today before law enforcement bodies, it, first of all, a crime detection rate problem. It as the President emphasized, should remain one of base criteria of militia activity. The second problem - counteraction to extremism (it is especially actual for the North Caucasus). The third basic direction - struggle against economic criminality, criminal pressure upon business and illegal capture of the property.

One more important direction - law enforcement bodies should promote the prevention of offences actively. The uniform state system of prevention of offences works in Russia since 2007. It is necessary to analyse in details that was possible, and that else it is necessary to make.

Then the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate answered questions of participants of press conference, and in end thanked journalists for creative activity on information support of activity of law enforcement bodies, and expressed confidence that practical interaction of militia and the mass media will be and to become stronger and develop only further for the benefit of inhabitants of the region.
