Late last week, a campaign "Donor Day" took place at the Internal Affairs Directorate in Murmansk region. Experts of Murmansk regional blood transfusion station specially arrived to the Internal Affairs Directorate's office building for this rather complicated blood taking procedure, since the station premises could not contain the more than a hundred militia officers wishing to share their blood.
Specially for the campaign one half of the sports hall of the Internal Affairs Directorate was equipped: medical couches, tables and chairs were delivered, bedclothes attached on to the volleyball net to separate the sterile part of the hall where medical manipulations were performed from the non-sterile part where militia officers filled in necessary questionnaires and documents.
The medical office started its work at 9 o'clock in the morning simultaneously with the beginning of a regular working day, and by this time a huge queue was already standing before the door to the sports hall, among whom were heads of units of the Internal Affairs Directorate, employees of combat units of militia, operative employees. Before the procedure, all donors were offered hot sweet tea and cookies.
Among the first to donate their blood to morally support their colleagues was the deputy head of the Internal Affairs Directorate Eric Khismatullin, the head of the information and PR department Lyudmila Rudakova and the head of the inherent security department Mikhail Pshenichniy. They were followed by other militia officers. According to the physicians, the donated blood is intended for seriously sick inhabitants of the region, primarily children. What could be more responsible and honorable that saving someone's life?
The employees of the blood transfusion station are immensely happy, for now that there is a catastrophic lack in blood for medical operations, they collected 36 liters at once! Besides, the physicians were surprised to find quite a lot of militia officers to have the rare, blood group 4.
After the blood donation all donors are offered a day off, but the militia employees would not take advantage of this opportunity to have a rest. They returned to their workplaces and continued execution of official duties.
