Results of contest "Info 02" arranged by Internal Affairs Directorate competition in Yaroslavl region are summed up

On January 29, the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate in Yaroslavl region major general of militia N.I. Trifonov awarded journalists who had won the contest "Info 02" for the best coverage of the activity of the Internal Affairs Directorate in mass media in 2009.

More than 130 materials published in regional and regional newspapers and broadcast over by the regional TV and radio studios were presented to the competition. In total, 45 authors took part in competition both individually and within the editorial kits.

The analysis of the submitted materials shows that most of them utilize a true-to-life and objective approach to depict the activity of law enforcement bodies aimed at the prevention, disclosure and investigation of crimes, to convince citizens of the unavoidability of punishment for those who violate the law. The committee admitted that the regional mass media had given more attention to questions of prevention of offences in 2009 than before.

Most of the materials were submitted in the nomination "There are always chances for a feat in militia everyday life". There are now more high quality sketches about militia employees, about disclosing difficult crimes, more spectacular reports about operative search actions performed by employees of law enforcement bodies.

There are also lots of materials in the nomination "Leader" (containing interesting interviews with heads of internal affairs departments) and "Woman with character" (materials about women who are a success in law enforcement bodies). Also, the nomination "Always on duty" containing materials about veterans of the Ministry of Interior was not without attention.

For the organization of fruitful cooperation with bodies and units of internal affairs of the region, 25 editors-in-chief and journalists of Yaroslavl mass media were rewarded for the best materials about militia activity in 2009.

One can say in all certainty that the contest "Info 02" is still an important means of generating the sense of justice among the population, the respect for the work of employees of law enforcement bodies and improving the prestige value of the militia occupation.

In 2010, the provision about holding the competition "Info 02" for the best coverage the activity of the Internal Affairs Directorate in Yaroslavl region in the mass media will be amended. Other nominations will be added to expand the competition, to cover as many aspects of the operational activity of bodies and units of internal affairs of the region as possible.
