Today, meeting about extreme situation in some regions took place at Ministry of Interior of Russia
Today, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Interior of Russia under the guidance of the RF Minister of Interior General of the Army Rashid Gumarovich Nurgaliev to address the extreme situation in several regions of the country.
The drastic change of weather conditions provoked hurricanes in some regions. Leningrad, Novgorod, Pskov, Tver, Vologda regions have suffered from the power of nature most of all. According to weather forecasts, the hurricanes can occur in other regions, too.
Due to the drastic complication of weather conditions the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation undertook a range of additional measures to maintain the public order and restrict the consequences of the extreme situation.
Heads of law enforcement bodies in constituents of the Russian Federation took part in the event which was held via videoconference facilities, heads of departments, services and units of the Ministry of Interior of Russia.
During the meeting, actions of law enforcement bodies under the present circumstances were analyzed and necessary preventive measures to be taken were assigned.
For example, in Leningrad region objects of vital infrastructure, children's sanatoria, rest houses, medical institutions were promptly taken under control. The law enforcement bodies had following objectives: the public order and safety maintenance, the protection of the citizens' property and objects of the vital infrastructure, the traffic supervision along thoroughfares, the provision of unhindered passage of vehicles of emergency services. The situation on roads was under online supervision. For this purpose, the Central Internal Affairs Directorates in St.-Petersburg and Leningrad region involved militia helicopters.
In Novgorod, Pskov, Tver and Vologda regions, the law enforcement bodies also undertook the advanced mode of duty performance. Under special control were children's asylums, sanatoria, institutions for elderly people, medical institutions.
The minister highly appreciated the work of the above-named Central Internal Affairs Directorates. At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Interior of Russia emphasized that the present conditions demand additional urgent measures be taken both to remove consequences of the hurricanes and to prepare for possible acts of nature.
Rashid Nurgaliev listened to a number of heads of Central Internal Affairs Directorates, Internal Affairs Directorates in constituents of the Russian Federation where complication of weather conditions is predicted. In conclusion of the meeting the Minister set precise tasks demanding immediate attention of heads of law enforcement bodies.
