Rashid Nurgaliev congratulated team of newspaper "The Shield and Sword" on 20th Anniversary
Today, a solemn event took place at the RF Ministry of Interior with participation of the Minister of Interior General of the Army Rashid Nurgaliev on the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the main edition of the Ministry of Interior of Russia, the newspaper "Shield and Sword".
Among those who took part in the event were: the Assistant Secretary of internal affairs of the Russian Federation, the chairman of the Russian Veteran Council of law enforcement bodies and internal troops colonel general Ivan Shilov, the deputy head of the administrative department, head of the public relations department of the Ministry of Interior of Russia major general of militia Valery Gribakin, as well as the management, veterans and employees of the joint editorial office of the Ministry of Interior of Russia.
The event started with a movie about the history of establishment and development of the newspaper "Shield and Sword" which over the two decades has passed a difficult way of development holding a solid position among the print mass media of not only the departmental system but also the whole country.
The chief credo of the journalists collaborating in "The Shield and Sword" was being where real work is humming, where most knotty issues the law and order maintenance are solved. In recent years the correspondents of "The Shield and Sword" have visited all "flash points" of the Soviet Union and Russia, quite often jeopardized their lives to tell their readers about the state of affairs. The real fire trial for the newspaper was the counter-terrorism operation in the Chechen republic.
Today, the newspaper "The Shield and Sword" is managed by a committed and well-consolidated team of professionals. Young employees work beside veterans of law enforcement bodies. The continuity of generations is one of components of its success.
The RF Minister of Interior General of the Army Rashid Nurgaliev started his speech congratulating the team of the newspaper "The Shield and Sword".
"This day twenty years ago was the day the first issue was published, and over all these years the departmental journalism has gone a long way which promoted its personnel capacity and reinforced the professional traditions. Today, no Ministry of Russia can exist without publicity and transparency. These are primarily provided by departmental mass media. Following the professional etiquette standards, taking advantage of the whole range of information methods, you adequately and objectively cover events and processes within the law enforcement bodies, the activity of employees of the Ministry in terms of protection of rights and freedoms of citizens, maintenance of the public order and safety. Thereby you support the constructive dialogue and in many respects produce a considerable impact on the public opinion about the activity of the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation," Rashid Nurgaliev commented.
According to the Head of the Ministry of Interior of Russia, the standpoint of the newspaper's team concerning the protection of the honor and dignity of militia employees and military men of internal troops deserves special respect.
The Minister considers that today one should involve all available forces and means to build up an objective public opinion about the activity of law enforcement bodies and military men of internal troops.
In terms of implementation of the state multilevel prevention system it is impossible to go without practical dedicated assistance of public law enforcement associations and the mass media.
Rashid Nurgaliev emphasized the importance of the role of the mass media in terms of prevention of crimes and offences committed by minors.
"The advocacy of the legislative behavior, the healthy way of life, the encouragement of enthusiasm for sports, art, aversion of violence, drugs, refusal of smoking and drinking alcohol are the issues where we expect your commitment and active participation," the Head of the Ministry of Interior declared.
Also, the measures aimed at increase of the safety on roads of our country deserve special attention. Within the implementation of the federal target program "Increase of the traffic safety" the Ministry of Interior of Russia is arranging large-scale campaigns, preventive materials are published in various mass media and broadcast over central TV channels. Video clips about the traffic safety already win prizes at international festivals.
The information strategy which is already developed for today should unite all efforts to achieve the intended objectives.
"Each of us in our respective spheres should do their utmost. For that, you have full proficiency and capacities," said Rashid Nurgaliev addressing the employees of the joint editorial office of the Ministry of Interior of Russia who attended the event.
In his speech the Head of the Ministry of Interior wished the team of the newspaper "The Shield and Sword" creative achievements and new advances in serving the Fatherland for the benefit of the Ministry of Interior.
In conclusion the RF Minister of Interior handed over state and departmental awards to employees of the joint editorial office of the Ministry of Interior of Russia.
